Description
Description | The Central African Republic, with its population of almost 5 million, is one of the poorest countries in the world. The landlocked country has suffered for decades from numerous violent conflicts and weak and inefficient governments. Many people have fled within the country or to neighboring countries. Basic state services are barely available in such a fragile environment. This project is intended to target the particularly vulnerable health sector. On the one hand, the repair of health stations in rural areas (including equipment, water and electricity supplies) is planned, and on the other hand, training facilities for health personnel are to be set up and expanded in the capital, Bangui. For both activities, the international and national Red Cross/Red Crescent have been entrusted by the CAR government with implementing the measures. The aim of the project is to reduce the country's most serious health problems, such as the high maternal and child mortality rates. An FC contribution of EUR 11 million is available for this. |
