Reconstruction and Expansion of the Iraq-Syria Banias Oil Pipeline

planned

Iraq and Syria signed an agreement to rebuild the pipeline that carries Iraqi crude oil to Syria's Mediterranean port of Banias. The project aims to secure an alternative export route for Iraqi oil, reducing reliance on the Strait of Hormuz. The plan includes rehabilitating the existing pipeline and constructing a new pipeline linking Basra oil fields to Haditha, with branches to Banias, Jordan's Aqaba port, and Turkey, potentially increasing export capacity to around 2 million barrels per day.
