Description | This project forms part of the emergency works initiated by the Government of Mauritius to alleviate the flooding problems in the village of Albion. The existing structure is of reinforced concrete box culverts with dimensions 2.30m x 6.0m x 0.90m. During heavy rainfall, the culverts are flooded with the increasing volume of water from the river, and the road above become inaccessible to the inhabitants. Alternative route onto lateral roads can be used to access on the Albion Road, B78 through the lighthouse. The new bridge will be of dimension 11.0m x 7.0m x 1.60 m.
