Reconstruction of Interstate 4 Interchange in Florida

Skanska, a global construction and development firm, has been awarded a $70.5 million design build project to lead the reconstruction of Interstate 4 (I-4) at State Road 557 (SR 557) interchange in Central Florida. The project involves transforming the interchange from an existing partial cloverleaf configuration to a diamond interchange, constructing a new bridge for SR 557 traffic over the widened I-4, and building two new bridges on I-4 for wildlife crossings. The project is aimed at enhancing traffic patterns, increasing motorist safety, and accommodating future tolled express lanes and a high-speed rail corridor.
