Description
Description | The Central African Republic is one of the poorest countries in the world. The landlocked country has suffered for decades from numerous violent conflicts and weak state structures. This project addresses the particularly vulnerable health sector and builds on the content of the first phase of rebuilding the health system in CAR. The aim of the project is to increase the use of qualitatively improved health services by the target group, especially women and children, in the project region. The repair and equipment of health facilities will be expanded to other locations in the project area in Phase III. At the same time, support for the 16 facilities selected in Phase I will continue in order to respond to ongoing needs and to secure what has been achieved so far. The training capacities created in the previous phases will also be used in Phase III to address existing staff and qualification bottlenecks in the health facilities. In addition, measures to improve access to information and family planning products will continue to be implemented in the project area. The target group of the project is the population in the project regions, especially mothers, children and young people. The project area is Health Region 1, specifically the prefectures of Lobaye and Ombella MPoko. The international and national Red Cross/Red Crescent have been entrusted by the CAR government with implementing the measures. |
