The Red de Tolerancia (ReTo) project addresses hate speech and hate crime in Spain, with a strategic focus on Andalucía as a model region for nationwide replication. ReTo unites civil society organizations (CSOs), public authorities, political actors, and other stakeholders to build coalitions, develop action plans, and enhance the enforcement of hate crime legislation. The project includes specialized training for law enforcement, workshops on ethical media reporting, improved data collection mechanisms, public awareness campaigns, and sports and cultural events to promote tolerance and inclusion. Political engagement is a key component, aiming to influence policies and decision-making processes that counteract hate-driven narratives. Leveraging innovative tools like AI-driven monitoring, the project strengthens collaboration and empowers communities to tackle hate speech and hate crime effectively.
