Description

Description

The Red Deer Waskasoo Creek Scour and Erosion Project (the Project) will identify areas of erosion and investigate a flood mitigation structure at the 43 Street culvert to protect two key roadways. High flow events along Waskasoo Creek in 2018 and 2020 have resulted in significant erosion of the creek banks, and portions of the channel between 32 and 43 Street have experienced bank scour and erosion in multiple locations, which has required assessment and repairs to protect adjacent areas from flooding. Key pieces of infrastructure that are threatened by the eroding banks include: northbound lanes of Taylor Drive, two pedestrian bridges, storm water outfalls, and a recreational pathway. In addition, based on the latest flood mapping, the 42 Street culvert causes upstream flooding at low run, therefore, maintaining access is critical.
