Description | The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is undertaking two critical transit projects: the Red Line Extension and the Red and Purple Modernization projects. The Red Line Extension involves a historic investment into the Far South Side of Chicago to transform public transit and create new economic opportunities. The Red and Purple Modernization project has resulted in four new, fully accessible and modern stations and is nearing substantial completion. Initial work for the Red Line Extension began four years ago, including clearing trees, demolishing properties, and removing water lines in preparation for major construction activities. |
