Redevelopment of the former ABC Cinema in Liverpool

planned

The former ABC Cinema, an art deco building on the corner of Lime Street and Elliot Street in Liverpool city centre, has been disused since 1998 and left to deteriorate. Liverpool City Council owns the building and has been approached by a potential buyer interested in redeveloping it. The building is part of the wider Upper Central Masterplan for city centre regeneration, which includes plans for improved connectivity and public spaces such as a new public square outside the Adelphi Hotel. Previous plans approved in 2016 aimed to convert the cinema into a state-of-the-art music and entertainment venue, but no redevelopment has yet occurred. The council is currently in early-stage talks with a potential buyer and is waiting for the right investor to proceed with redevelopment.
