Description

Description

The primary goal is to establish a cultural renewal of the Sudeten regions from the nineties of the twentieth century to the present due to the stories of the individual cultural monuments. The purpose of the project is stories of the renewal of a concrete cultural monument and stories of Czech and German individuals or associations who are involved in the renewal. On the basis of concrete stories, secondary project objectives are to deepen German-Czech cooperation in the field of care for cultural heritage in the Sudeten areas and to market cultural heritage in the border areas through an interesting form. The project will be carried out through the following activities:Collection of stories of individuals and associations dealing with the renewal or maintenance of cultural monuments in a municipality/city in the Sudeten area in the district of Pilsen.Assembling a German-Czech publication in which the aforementioned stories are published.Sociological analysis, based on the collected stories and will reflect “a cultural renewal of the Sudeten areas” after the fall of the Iron Curtain.Exhibition of photographs documenting a renewal of the monuments included in the project. With regard to the continuing potential of the project, pedagogues from primary and secondary schools are considered to be a secondary target group. An added value of the project forms a link between the life stories of people and the monuments. This link shows the efforts of the Germans and Czechs to renew their unique cultural heritage in the Czech border areas. In view of the common German-Czech history of this area, the linking is evidence of a deepening of the mutual German-Czech relations. Through the processed individual stories, this value of the project is also comprehensible for generations who did not experience the historical features that constituted the location of today’s Sudeten areas.
