Description

Description

This project will target the conveyance, treatment and capture of non-point source agricultural stormwater runoff for the purpose of removing/reducing stormwater pollutants and reducing phosphorus loads entering Lake Erie. The project will complete the design and rehabilitation of 8 wetlands which form part of the stormwater conveyance, located in the Lake Erie basin. Works will include replacement or repair of existing inlet and outlet hydraulic control structures; re-grading, re-vegetating, and reconstruction of damaged or dysfunctional drainage channels and wetland berms/banks; and sediment removal from ditches and wetlands to restore treatment volumes and treatment effectiveness, and restore optimal stormwater conveyance. The project will also include the construction of 10 small Constructed Wetland stormwater systems as demonstration sites for testing for stormwater quality improvement for agricultural runoff. Project will contribute to a reduced level of toxic algal blooms for overall improved health of the lake.
