Description
Description | A five year indefinite delivery indefinite quantity contract was established to provide vehicle modeling and crash simulation, roadside safety analysis, crash testing, reverse engineering, occupant risk studies, and training and outreach to operate and enhance the crash data library and conduct infrastructure security evaluations. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Department of State (DOS) have partnered with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to support this contract. Task Orders were initiated for the following efforts: Project organization and kickoff. Provide analysis and evaluation support for roadside safety team. Operation and maintenance of the federal outdoor impact laboratory (FOIL). Conduct efforts to document and disseminate research and support outreach efforts. Update and maintain vehicle and hardware models and associated documentation. Analyze terrain effects on the trajectories of vehicles that leave the road. Investigate causes of rollover events for various crash types using analytic methods. Develop updated bogie test vehicle for FOIL. Analyses and testing of the improved infrastructure security barriers. An analysis of improvements to DOS infrastructure barriers to enhance performance. Develop and validate a finite element (FE) model for a small car. Maintain the crash tests library and continue digital conversion. Provide ongoing analysis and evaluation support for FE modeling and simulation. Assess effectiveness of child safety devices in rear seat placement. Analyses of new materials on vehicle crash integrity. Investigate self and partner protection of new vehicle designs using structural modeling. Ongoing analysis and testing of infrastructure security barriers. Conduct efforts to document and disseminate research and support outreach efforts. Update and maintain vehicle and hardware models and associate documentation. Investigate causes of rollover events for various crash types using analytical methods. Develop updated bogie test vehicle for FOIL. Analyze the safety implications of new vehicle designs in roadside crashes. Develop and validate an FE Model for a midsized car. Optimize, document, and demonstrate the tractor-trailer FE model. Other task orders will be added as the need arises and resources become available. |
