The Project for Kyrgyz Republic on Reducing Technical Barriers for Entrepreneurship and Trade aims to streamline the national technical regulation and standards framework for business, develop systems to enhance quality and safety of products and increase enterprise competitiveness in pilot sectors. The project consists of the following components: Component 1: will strengthen the capacity of the public sector to develop the new technical regulation framework based on the Law on the Fundamentals of Technical Regulation. Component 2: will strengthen the capacity of the National Institute of Standards and Metrology (NISM) to perform its functions. Component 3: will develop a modern domestic quality and certification infrastructure capable of providing critical services to the industry. Component 4: will provide support to the Project Implementation Unit (PIU). The start-up cost of the PIU will be covered under the Project Preparation Facility.
