Reduction of Rail Freight Noise by retrofitting of ZSSK CARGO wagons 2

ended

This project deals with actions to reduce rail freight noise. The wagons fitted with composite blocks generate up to 50% less noise audible by human ear compared to wagons equipped with cast iron blocks. The project covers the retrofit of 2 819 wagons with silent composite brake blocks. After completing this Project, 65 % of ZSSK CARGO’s rolling stock would consist of silent wagons, which would contribute to reducing noise across the European territory and especially on Trans-European corridors as Rhine-Danube Corridor, Baltic-Adriatic Corridor and Orient/East Med Corridor.
