Description
Description | As part of the Financing of the Ghanaian Development Bank project, the Ghanaian government is to be supported in establishing a new national development bank (Development Bank of Ghana - DBG) in accordance with international standards. The aim of the project is to improve the needs-based and long-term financing of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in key sectors of the Ghanaian economy. This will make a significant contribution to creating and securing jobs and to promoting the private sector and thus to the country's economic development. In addition, the project will contribute to greater efficiency and transparency in the Ghanaian banking and financial sector. For this purpose, debt financing in the form of a subordinated loan from trust funds totaling EUR 46.5 million is to be provided directly to the DBG. The subordinated loan is to be used by the DBG to grant credit lines to selected, qualified on-lending banks/partner financial institutions (PFIs) for the long-term refinancing of MSME customers. |
