Description
Description | The Sustainable Urban Mobility and Urban Space reform program is intended to support the United Mexican States in the implementation and structuring of reform efforts in the area of sustainable urban mobility and traffic safety by means of an ODA-eligible reform loan (PBL) of up to 250 million euros. The project is thus directly linked to the reform efforts of the Mexican government, which advocates a climate-friendly and socially balanced economy. The Ministry of Agriculture, Territorial and Urban Development (SEDATU) is primarily responsible for implementing the agreed measures. Two phases are planned for the entire reform approach. According to the current planning of the Mexican government, the completion of the reforms planned in Phase I and the signing of the corresponding loan agreement are to take place by the end of 2023. A loan of up to 850 million US dollars is planned for the current Phase I. This is to be provided as parallel financing with the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB). Regular discussions are held with the IADB as part of the preparation of the PBL. The target group of the project is the entire population of Mexico. In addition, there is great potential, especially in urban areas, to promote gender aspects and thus the achievement of SDG 5 (gender equality). When designing the sector reform program, special attention is paid to promoting vulnerable groups and women in particular, by implementing targeted measures to improve safety for women on public transport and consistently taking gender aspects into account. |
