The FC project PARÉ makes a contribution to the DC program Protection, Restoration and Sustainable Use of Biodiversity and Forest Landscapes in Madagascar. The aim of the FC measure is The sustainable management of the areas in the selected intervention communities contributes to the AFR100 initiative / Restoration of tree-rich landscapes, to sustainable wood production, increasing and maintaining biodiversity and to erosion protection. At the same time, the income situation in the intervention zones is to be significantly improved, in the short term through income from agroforestry measures and in the medium to long term through (energy wood) reforestation and general through income diversification. The FC module is intended to support small farmers (and, where potential exists, private or private-sector actors), livestock farmers and communities in sustainable land management and, based on this, in securing land use rights. The FC module also aims at the comprehensive implementation of agroforestry, community forests and sustainable pastoral management in the sense of a landscape approach with particular consideration of increasing biodiversity. Participatory and precise local land use planning is required as a basis for the management measures and will be supported as needed. Erosion protection protects agricultural sites further down the valley/downstream, such as irrigation perimeters/water catchment areas, from erosion and silting.
