Description

Description

This project is a new EUR 100 million unfunded Risk Participation Agreement (RPA) under which the Bank and Attijariwafa Bank Europe (AWBE) share the default risk on a portfolio of commercial transactions initiated by African issuing banks (BE). This new RPA will offer individual coverage of up to 50% over a 3-year period, with the possibility of a 6-month extension, and the maturity of the underlying transactions will not exceed 2 years. To support BEs and SMEs in LICs and countries in transition, the Bank, in line with CF guidelines, will be able to cover up to 75% of the default risk on transactions with a significant impact on development and carried out by local banks with a good credit rating. The facility is aligned with three of the Bank's five High-5 strategic priorities, namely "Feeding Africa", "Industrializing Africa" and "Integrating Africa", given the multi-sectoral nature of AWB's trade finance portfolio.
