What skills are needed in Scandinavian working life is changing rapidly. Competence-based Regional Analyse, KOBRA, will investigate what knowledge is needed in the future and how smaller regions together can meet that demand. For a region, it is important that its operations can find the right employees, otherwise it may have financial consequences. Therefore, for Kattegat and Skagerak regions, especially the smaller ones, it is necessary to focus on the skills needs of the future and thus work proactively on the issue. By creating collaborations between local and regional actors and activities, the KOBRA project can identify and create the right skills before they are missing in the labour market. We all want to know what skills we need tomorrow to get the best jobs and good growth in our regions. This project will make us better at it," says Bente Børre Petersen, project manager for KOBRA. Educating the right excellence: By working together on the issue, the regions will make it easier to identify skills needs. In addition, they gain stronger muscles to create the excellence that is missing. The project considers that it is not only students who need to acquire new skills, but that as working life changes, adults also need to be further trained and career-changing. “We believe that further education will play a crucial role in the future,” says Bente Børre Petersen. Access to new knowledge: By working across borders, project participants can benefit from excellence and trainings that they otherwise find it difficult to access. The actors participating in KOBRA will also establish a Scandinavian network of Scandinavian consultants where they visit each other’s operations, learn from each other’s competencies and therefore can be at the forefront of the issue. — Together we want to collect key figures around different areas of work, but also analyse those areas of work where it is difficult to gather numbers around. In this way, we can benchmark the different regions. Network for continued work: In other words, advice and guidance are essential for the project. By supporting each other, regions hope to improve their skills to anticipate — and solve — labour market needs. When the project is finished, they hope that the work is so anchored that it continues. — Then we want to have written a couple of really good reports that give an overview of the strengths of the different regions that can continue to be used. But the network is perhaps the most important thing in our project, and through that we hope that new networks and projects on similar issues will emerge," says Bente Børre Petersen.
