Regional load distribution centers for power grid stability

The proposed project envisages the construction and digital equipment of three regional load distribution centers in Abidjan, Bouaké and Man. This will enable the state-owned energy company Côte d'Ivoire Énergies (CI-ENERGIES) to efficiently control and monitor the network and increase the ability to react to network disruptions at a regional level. Reliable data collection and transmission will be ensured as part of the project by expanding missing fiber optic cables on existing lines and digitally connecting the switchgear. Fiber optic cables allow large amounts of data to be transmitted at the speed of light so that any disruptions in network operation can be identified quickly enough and forwarded to the load distribution centers, which can respond to the instability in the network. The improved network control also ensures that power plants can produce more evenly and thus reduce the wear and tear on the switching devices, which leads to increased efficiency and thus savings in greenhouse gas emissions. The improved power supply and the avoidance of unnecessary power outages ultimately benefit the people of Côte d'Ivoire. An improved investment climate in the country ensures productivity gains and creates new employment opportunities in the private sector. This protects against supply shortages and income losses and promotes social and economic development in the country in the long term.
