Description
Description | The SFISH‑2 project is envisioned as regional marine aquaculture and fisheries initiative for the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, with components that address regional management of these natural resources, along with country-level investments in the mariculture sector. In Yemen and Djibouti, the project aims to deliver public infrastructure, services, and enabling policies needed to establish a competitive, privately led aquaculture industry that creates jobs, increases food security, and grows exports. Interventions in Yemen and Djibouti center on the commercial production of sea bass for export, sea bream for local markets, and community‑based lobster products, all supported through contract farming and guaranteed feed and offtake arrangements. A regional component will support the transboundary management of fisheries in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden to support the sustainability of stocks in the long-term. |
