Description | The project involves the design, build, financing and maintenance of a new train fleet to replace the existing trains on the regional rail system in New South Wales, a state in the south-east of Australia. This includes more than 60 XPT trains that operate between Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and regional NSW centres, and 50 XPLORER and Endeavour trains that operate between smaller towns in the state and between Sydney and Canberra.The operations of regional train and coach services will remain with the Government owned operator, NSW Trains.This new fleet will be maintained at a new facility to be built in regional NSW. The preferred location is Government owned land in Dubbo. |
