"Area 1 “European profiling on the structure of the Top tier MNE groups”: The EuroGroups Register (EGR) plays a key infrastructural role in containing a correct and consistent reflection of the structures of multinational enterprise (MNE) groups and their economic impact. To ensure a frequent observation/treatment of the most significant MNE groups with potential sizable effect on the economy, Eurostat with the help of the Task Force for the Future EGR has implemented the new top tier approach where the operation of the European Profiling in the EGR/IPT integrated tool is limited to the structure of the Top MNE groups. This way, the NSAs are able to work on/review a higher number of groups (group structures) that have a significant economic impact on business and macroeconomic EU and national statistics. The objective of this action is to collect high-quality information on the top tier MNE groups and to update this information in the registers – the national statistical business registers and the EuroGroups Register. This will help to ensure that the EuroGroups Register is the authoritative source for the ESS as a register population for business statistics requiring the coordination of cross-border information related to MNE groups. Area 3 ""Implementation of the NACE Rev.2.1 in the Business Registers"": The European statistical business registers have to continuously upgrade their quality, to be able to provide up-to-date information, with reliable and accurate data on statistical units and their classifications, to guarantee comparability across Member States and at international level. Since the entry into force of NACE Rev. 2 in 2008, there have been a number of technological developments, while the economy underwent structural changes. All these developments have been reflected in the NACE classification and therefore, NACE Rev. 2.1 has been established. The objective of this action is to adapt the German statistical business register to NACE Rev. 2.1. "
