Work package (WP) 1 and 2: Profiling businesses in Europe has gained a lot of importance in recent years. As most of the largest enterprises groups became deeply multinational, it was necessary to create a cooperative profiling method between different countries of the same multinational enterprise group. Work Package (WP) 3: The implementation of the new NACE Rev. 2.1. will be one of the main challenges for the National Statistical Office (NSO) in the coming years. It requires reclassification of units in the Statistical Business Register (SBR) and coordination among the statistical production units within the NSO as well as with external authorities of the public national administration, responsible for the collection of administrative data from businesses. Moreover, the introduction of the revised classification implies changes in the sampling framework for surveys, change in weighting systems for estimations and back-casting of time series. Therefore, it is essential for the NSO to start preparing for the implementation of the new classification NACE Rev. 2.1. from all the relevant methodological, organisational, and technical aspects in advance. Due to dependencies between domains, it is not practical to implement the new NACE classification simultaneously in all statistical domains. Instead, a sequential approach will be used, starting with the implementation in the SBR and in statistical domains that do not depend on it (e.g., certain social surveys). The main purpose of this action is to facilitate NSO’s preparation for the implementation of the NACE Rev. 2.1 for the national statistical systems in the SBR.
