The operation of Multi-national Enterprise Groups (MNEs) poses significant challenges in the production of both national and EU statistics. Double counted or missing entities threaten to distort NA and business statistics significantly. Therefore, the proper and harmonized handling of MNEs in the business registers is crucial for the production of comparable and reliable statistics. At this point the cooperative work of the EU member states, the experiences gathered while participating in a project like the present one (using the Interactive Profiling Tool) and the sharing of the experiences on the cooperation with the different statistical domains in the NSIs is considered to be mutually beneficial for the producers national and EU statistics.
