Globalisation and the growing complexity of multinational enterprise (MNE) groups present ongoing challenges for producing high-quality and consistent business statistics. To address this, coordinated efforts across the EuroGroups Register (EGR), European profiling, Large Cases Units (LCUs), and the Early Warning System (EWS) are essential. This project covers two areas: Area 1: European profiling on the structure of Top tier MNE groups (modules 1.1 and 1.2), and Area 2: European profiling on the structure and statistical units ‘enterprise’. Under Area 1, profiling will be conducted directly in the EGR tool, both as a Global Decision Centre (GDC) and as a partner country, focusing on updating legal units, control relationships, and group structures. Under Area 2, profiling will also cover the delineation of the statistical unit ‘enterprise’ using the IPT tool, improving coherence across business, trade, and macroeconomic statistics. The project aims to improve the quality and consistency of MNE data in the national statistical business register and in the EGR, supporting more harmonised and efficient statistical production within the ESS.
