Description
Description | Globalisation and growing complexity of the activity of MNE groups poses challenges to the countries in production of the high quality, consistent business statistics. European enterprises play significant role in international trade and are part of the complex global value chains. In order to ensure competitiveness, they organise production on a global scale and often belong to large, dynamically developing MNE groups. The manual, regular updating of the largest MNE groups is necessary especially in case of its restructuring or other significant changes. Eurostat supported by Task Force developed the new limited process of the MNE groups profiling, which focused on establishing of the group structure and the LEUs belonging to it and adapted the EGR IM tool to perform limited profiling. This new approach is set to decreasing workload for the profiling of the given MNE groups and eventually allow for profiling of more MNE groups in annual cycles. Parallelly Eurostat enables countries full profiling of the largest MNE groups in IPT. Furthermore, in accordance with Eurostat's recommendations, LCU in national statistical institutes should develop their methodology and expand their knowledge in data consistency analysis for the largest MNE groups. The implementation of tasks under this grant aligns with Eurostat's efforts to improve the quality of LCU activities through cooperation and the exchange of experiences with other countries, including study visits. Within the scope of the project Poland plans to join the following areas: Area 1. European profiling on the structure of the Top tier MNE groups Module 1.1: European profiling on the structure of the Top tier MNE groups (GDC and partner profiling) Area 2. European Profiling on the structure and statistical units ‘enterprise’ of the Top tier MNE groups Area 3. Monitoring and further support for LCUs’ work on MNEs data Module 3.1: Bilateral study visits and mutual ‘audits’ on LCU activities for knowledge sharing. |
