Description

Description

The project aims to contribute to stabilizing the economic situation and securing the food supply of the population in the project area (Impact). The project helps to enable people and structures to adapt to long-term changes and to cushion and minimize negative impacts. This is to be achieved by improving the possibilities for using the fishing port in Aden. The rehabilitation of transformative infrastructure (port) strengthens the transformation capacity of the population. On the one hand, the project contributes to improving the economic situation of the population, especially women in the fishing sector in Aden (Outcome 1). On the other hand, a contribution is made to the quantitative and qualitative improvement of the nutritional situation of the population (Outcome 2). The aim of the project is therefore to improve the nutritional situation of particularly vulnerable population groups in Yemen and to create economic prospects in the fishing sector. The project is an open program with a comprehensive approach that includes a package of measures based on needs analyses. At the selected project location in Aden, this includes needs-based rehabilitation measures for the fishing port, the provision of equipment and training. The project thus addresses the specific bottlenecks and key obstacles to the revitalization and use of the fishing port and the associated new employment opportunities, especially for women. At the same time, the project contributes to stabilizing food security.
