Description
Description | The project will rehabilitate the existing storm sewer system on Lakeshore Road in the Township of Wainfleet. The work will include the replacement of existing catchbasins, the replacement of 2 outlets to municipal stormwater drains, the installation of road erosion protection walls and the installation of roadside drainage curbs. The project will increase the capacity of the storm water management system, correct the erosion to the roadside, reduce instances of overland flooding onto properties along the road and reduce water infiltration into private septic systems which can contaminate the local drinking water source. Replacement of existing catch basins; replacement of 2 outlets to the municipal drains; installation of roadside erosion protection walls; installation of drainage curbs to eliminate any further erosion. The project will add additional system storm water handling capacity to address observed instances of higher-than-normal rainfall quantities and frequency. The rehabilitation will also correct erosion of the roadside and reduce instances of overland flooding onto neighbouring private property and reduce water infiltration into cisterns and private septic beds-which can serve to reduce the introduction of contaminants into the local acquifer-which is a drinking water source for this rural area. |
