Description
Description | Upgrade to Sewage Pump Station # 5 includes: 3 new pumps (each 50 L/s @ 16.0 Total Dynamic Head); replacement of all pipes and valves in station; two new motorized valves and piping to allow flows to be simultaneously conveyed to Sewage Pump Station and river (when needed); two new magnetic flowmeters to measure flows to Sewage Pump Station and any overflows to river; new genset; miscellaneous mechanical upgrades including new barscreen and sump pump; Supervisory Control and Data Acquisitioning upgrades and programming to improve Sewage Pump Station monitoring and control capabilities; removal of old unused equipment and wiring; and upgrade of building envelope. The rationale for the project is to improve the operational capability and reliability of the station and increase the peak flow rate conveyed to Sewage Pump Station #7 during wet weather, to support the other components of the proposed Wet Weather Flow Control Plan, especially the capacity increase at Sewage Pump Station #7. The proposed Sewage Pump Station capacity upgrades will allow more flow to be conveyed to Sewage Pump Station #7 and the Sewage Pump Station; reducing the volume and frequency of untreated sewage overflows at Sewage Pump Station #5; reducing the potential for basement flooding upstream of Sewage Pump Station #5; and reducing potential impacts on the environment (from reduced overflows) and public health (from basement flooding). |
