Replacement of existing watermain with joint project of reconstructing King Street with the county. The project includes the replacement of a very old plastic feeder watermain, with a new polyvinyl chloride (PVC) watermain. The plastic material is old, fragile and subject to breaking and leakage. The replacement includes a new watermain, new hydrants, new water services and all new valving. This is the main feeder system between our ground water wells and our community. It ensures good quality water for over 600 users and fire protection breaks (currently 600 users plus 1,000 additional residential units per the Official Plan designated growth). The project will eliminate breaks and leakage while monitoring resident usage. Objective: The objective is to maintain good quality water for residential and commercial users, provide dependable fire protection and reduce watermain leakage and possible breaks. Scope: The scope is the complete removal and replacement of this section of water main with new PVC water main material, remove and replace all copper water services and remove and replace all fire hydrants. This includes all new valving which is integral to controlling the system. Output: The output is a high-quality system with no leakage or possible breaks, a more reliable water supply to our community and dependable fire protection for the entire community.
