Rehabilitation of the INGA II hydroelectric power plant

The aim of the FC project is to make a cost-effective and environmentally friendly contribution to improving the electricity supply in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and in the South African Power Pool (SAPP) in the near future. This will create the conditions for economic development and an improvement in living conditions in the country and the region. The project is part of the national emergency aid program PMEDE (total cost around USD 800 million), which is also supported by WB, AfDB and EIB. The FC measure is intended to finance the rehabilitation of the substation belonging to the Inga power plants. By rehabilitating the switchgear belonging to the Inga I and II hydroelectric power plants, the electricity produced can be safely and with little loss discharged from the power plants to the entire Congolese region and to the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP). The FC project can therefore make an environmentally friendly contribution to improving the electricity supply in the DRC and in the SAPP. This will create the conditions for economic development and an improvement in living conditions in the country and the region.
