Description
Description | The purpose of this project is to restore the original facility functions to protect the environment, enhance the ability of the region through improved technology to operate and maintain the infrastructure, improve the infrastructure efficiency and reduce long term maintenance costs. Rehabilitation and retrofitting of the storm water pond at Mayfield Road and Heart Lake Road to restore the original operational design parameters and to meet the current standards for providing flood control and an "enhanced level of protection". The facility was constructed to service a tributary area of 22.3 ha, being comprised of 8.7 ha of arterial road drainage and 13.6 ha lands additional area which drains to the arterial road right of way. This facility provides storm water Quality Control (Enhanced Level i.e. 80% Total Suspended Solids removal) and Erosion Control and maintain Water Quantity flows below existing flow rates up to an including the Regional Storm. On June 6, 2008 the Ministry of Environment (MOE) authorized the Region to construct, operate and maintain the prescribed infrastructure, provided that it properly operate and maintain the infrastructure to protect the environment. To demonstrate compliance with the MOE authorization the Region of Peel operates a monitoring program. This program has illustrated that the original design performance characteristics have deteriorated and that without rehabilitation, the facility will not provide the function as per its original design. |
