Description
Description | Rehabilitation and retrofitting of the storm water pond at Mayfield Road and Kennedy Road to restore the original operational design parameters and to meet the current standards for providing flood control and an "enhanced level of protection". The purpose of this project is to restore the original facility functions to protect the environment, enhance the ability of the region through improved technology to operate and maintain the infrastructure, improve the infrastructure efficiency and reduce long term maintenance costs. The facility was constructed to service a tributary area of 10.59 ha, being comprised of 8.24 ha of arterial road drainage and 2.35 ha of additional lands which drain to the arterial road right of way. This facility provides storm water Quality Control (Enhanced Level i.e. 80% Total Suspended Solids removal), Erosion Control and maintains Water Quantity flows below existing flow rates up to the Regional Storm. On June 6, 2008 the Ministry of the Environment issued a Certificate of Approval to the Region of Peel to construct, operate and maintain the prescribed infrastructure, including a condition (No.4) requiring the Region to properly operate and maintain the infrastructure to protect the environment. To demonstrate compliance with the Ministry of the Environment authorization, the Region operates a monitoring program. The program showed that the facility have deteriorated and that without rehabilitation, will not function as per its original design. |
