Description
Description | The Egyptian economy is suffering from a shortage of well-trained specialists. At the same time, there is a very high number of young people looking for work. Due to the high population growth, around 850,000 young people enter the job market every year, most of whom cannot find employment in the formal sector. A key cause of this imbalance is the inadequate vocational training at state vocational schools. Graduates do not have the skills required in the private sector and are therefore not hired in their qualification area. The Egyptian government has recognized the need for a comprehensive transformation in the vocational training sector and initiated the Technical Education 2.0 reform. The project focuses on adequate and practical training for teachers from state vocational schools and training staff from the private sector in accordance with the new quality requirements of the Egyptian education reform. The aim is to improve the quality, broad impact and reputation of vocational training and thus strengthen the institutional and personnel conditions for sustainable and employment-effective economic growth in Egypt. For this purpose, three competence centers - including one each in Hurghada and Aswan - will be expanded to include modern training centers in which advanced training courses from the Technical Vocational Education Teachers Academy (TVETA) can be carried out. The project finances the conception, construction and furnishing of the training centers. The design of the training centers will be based on modern didactic and educational standards for dual vocational training. In addition, financial incentives will be created for the advanced training of teachers and trainers. The recipient of the funds and the project sponsor is the Arab Republic of Egypt, represented by the Egyptian Central Bank and the Ministry of Education. |
