Reintegration and Reconstruction Programme - Ebola Support Programme

The Ebola Support Programme is responding to an emergency situation caused by the unprecedented spread of the Ebola epidemic in Liberia and the neighbouring countries of Guinea and Sierra Leone and is complementing the fourth phase of the Reintegration and Reconstruction Programme (RRP). The implementation of containment and management strategies for dealing with the epidemic is the FC module objective. This is intended to contribute to the overall objective of Phase IV of RRP, i.e. to consolidate the peace process and socio-economic reconstruction in southeastern Liberia. The focus of the project will be on the previous RRP programme areas in the southeast of the country. However, depending on requirements, measures can also be carried out in other parts of the country, in particular in the capital Monrovia, which has been particularly badly affected by the epidemic. The project builds on the proven implementation structure of RRP. Accordingly, the German Welthungerhilfe will again be involved in the implementation, with support from other NGOs if necessary. In close coordination with the existing program, a supplementary project approach is being developed that addresses the special needs in the context of the Ebola epidemic. In addition to immediate measures such as information campaigns and the distribution of sanitary materials, which have already been financed under RRP III since April 2014, this also includes aid measures to stabilize the lives of citizens after the epidemic has ended, particularly in the areas of food security and in schools and health care. The project is designed as an open program. EUR 5.0 million is earmarked as a FC grant for financing in the first phase. Due to the higher financing requirements, a further EUR 7.0 million is being examined for a possible second phase (stock check).
