The Reko Diq project is a large-scale copper and gold mining project located in Balochistan, Pakistan. It is one of the world's biggest untapped deposits of copper and gold, expected to generate approximately $74 billion in free cash flow over 37 years. The project was revived after a 2022 settlement with Barrick Gold and has secured $6 billion in international funding. The first phase of production is expected to start by the end of 2028, producing 200,000 tons of copper per year, with an estimated cost of $5.5 billion. A second phase costing $3.5 billion will double production.
