The Reko Diq project is a massive copper-gold mining venture located in the Chagai District of Balochistan, Pakistan. It is operated by a joint venture including Canada's Barrick Gold and the Pakistani federal and provincial governments. The project aims to produce copper and gold, with production projected to begin in 2028. It has secured $6 billion in funding from the United States, Japan, and leading international financial institutions, including $1.05 billion approved by the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank. The project is expected to create thousands of jobs, accelerate regional and social development, and boost Pakistan's economic recovery and industrial base.
