The Reko Diq project is one of the largest undeveloped copper and gold deposits in the world located in Pakistan. The project involves mining gold and copper and has attracted international investment interest, including from the European Investment Bank. The project includes financing enabling infrastructure and aims to support critical mineral off take for Europe's green and digital transitions. The first phase of the project is estimated to cost between $5.6 billion and $6 billion, with a second phase costing an additional $3.3 billion to $3.6 billion. First production is targeted by the end of 2028, though timelines may shift due to various factors including security and financing concerns.
