Description | The project entails the construction of Meghnaghat Gas-Fired Power Plant, first phase of a planned 3GW facility in Narayanganj, Bangladesh. The expected capacity is 745MW (718MW net output). Sponsors of the $1.18 billion facility are Reliance Power (51%) and JERA (a 50/50 JV between TEPCO and Chubu Electric, 24.5% each). Debt providers are the Asian Development Bank, Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Mizuho Bank, SMBC, MUFG Bank and Société Générale. Debt and equity contributions stood at USD642 million and USD541 million, respectively. Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (Nexi) provided insurance for the project to the amount of $177 million.
