The 38-acre Ascon site operated as a waste disposal facility from about 1938 to 1984, initially accepting waste from oil drilling, and after 1971, construction debris. The work will entail excavation of up to 32,000 cu yd of contaminated materials, to be disposed off site, and construction of an engineered protective cap, a vapor collection system and two stormwater detention basins. |
