Description

Description

Natural and technological disasters and the consequences of their impact, the threat of CBRN, warehouses and transport systems as military and terrorist targets, and the existence of CBRN weapons are a source of potential contemporary CBRNE threats. The consequences of such threats create environmental conditions in which the first responders are limited or even prevented to act due to extreme conditions. With the spread of CBRN threats, the threat zone extends mainly to civilians, and thus the strategies and tactics of the Civil Protection System and namely emergency services must adopt to the CBRN threats. Project proposes ROSDEC, the cutting-edge technology, the Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV) systems which will improve the UCPM by enabling a prompt response in extreme conditions in the area of the CBRN threat. This approach significantly reduces the response time, scope and dynamics of the accident. In addition, sensor systems provide real-time data from extreme zone, take samples and other forensic data, contributing to situational awareness and more efficient accident management. The objective of the Project is to develop, maintain and ensure the availability of rescEU CBRN decontamination capacities using ROSDEC in all three reference scenarios (unintentional and intentional disasters; mass gatherings) in order to deliver CBR and TIC decontamination capacities to decontaminate infrastructure, buildings, vehicles, equipment, and critical evidence from chemical, biological and radiological agents including common Toxic Industrial Chemicals (TICs) and toxins. The new capacity of ROSDEC will help address temporary shortcomings caused by the urgent need to increase CBRN decontamination capacity, thus strengthening cross-border disaster prevention mechanisms and contributing to strengthening the EU's resilience to CBRN.
