The proposed project is a senior secured A loan (the “Loan”) of up to US$ 60.0 million (approx. BDT $6.5 billion equivalent) for Renata PLC (“Renata” or the “Company”). The project will finance working capital requirements for Renata to import raw materials (e.g., Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and will not finance any expansion of existing facilities or new productive equipment (the “Project”). Renata PLC has over 50 years of experience, going back to their 1972-1993 phase as Pfizer, manufacturing and distributing pharmaceutical products in Bangladesh and 43 countries. In 1993, Pfizer transferred the ownership of its Bangladesh operations to local shareholders, and the company's name was changed to Renata PLC. Renata PLC is a publicly listed pharmaceutical manufacturer headquartered in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Sponsors of Renata PLC (Borrower) owned 51.0% of the business in 1993 through an NGO setup called Sajida Foundation. The Company operates 14 existing manufacturing facilities spread over three sites (Mirpur, Rajendrapur, and Bhaluka) in and around Dhaka (https://renata-ltd.com/). Renata PLC’s core businesses are human pharmaceuticals and animal health products. Renata PLC supplies pharmaceuticals to both domestic and international markets, and they operate 19 distribution centres across Bangladesh.
