The FZ module is designed as a solar project and makes a contribution to increasing generation capacity in a climate-friendly way, as well as to sectoral diversification in the Egyptian energy mix. The aim of the module is to build a grid-connected 50 MW PV system at the Zafarana site in Egypt. The measure includes planning, construction and commissioning of the PV power plant with the necessary connection and development measures as well as consulting services to support the project sponsor New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA). The project sponsor New and Renewable Energy Authority is 100% owned by the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy. The total cost of the FZ module is currently estimated at EUR 55 million, which, in addition to the contribution from KfW, consists of an own contribution from NREA equivalent to EUR 5 million.
