The funds from the project are intended to finance investments in the field of renewable energies and energy efficiency in Africa. The aim is to create adequate, improved access to long-term financing options for energy-efficient energy efficiency measures and renewable energy projects (4E) and in this way to make a contribution to climate and environmental protection. At the same time, the project contributes to economic growth and thus to poverty reduction. The program is aimed at private and public investors in Africa and will pursue an open program approach in which the final identification, selection and implementation of individual investment projects takes place during the program implementation. It will make a significant contribution to the G7 EE initiative for Africa (G7 Summit Elmau 2015) and the EU-Africa Energy Partnership. The immediate target group are private and public investors who initiate projects in the field of renewable energies and energy efficiency and who have insufficient long-term financing options available. The indirect target group is the population of the respective implementation region, who benefit from improved and climate-friendly access to energy.
