Description

Description

The aim of the FC measure (outcome) is to (i) contribute to cost-effective and at the same time environmentally friendly energy generation to improve the security of supply for electricity consumers in Ghana and (ii) to contribute to the diversification of energy supplies in Ghana. The overarching development policy objective (impact) of the FC measure is to contribute to economic development and poverty reduction in Ghana as well as to climate and environmental protection. The target group is the entire population of Ghana. Main measure As part of the project, photovoltaic systems with a total capacity of at least 12 MWp are to be built at two locations in the Upper West Region of Ghana, Kaleo and Lawra. This is Ghana's first large grid-connected photovoltaic power plant. The systems will produce around 17.4 GWh of electricity per year. In addition, the project will achieve substantial CO2 savings of around 4,500 tonnes per year. The electricity generated will be fed into the national grid. Costs / Financing The investment costs are estimated at EUR 26.460 million. An IDA loan of up to EUR 22.816 million will be granted for financing. The remaining financing will be provided as part of the sponsor's own contribution.
