Description

Description

The FC measure is the second phase of a photovoltaic system in the Upper West Region of Ghana. The state-owned power generation company Volta River Authority (VRA) plans to further expand the solar capacities at the two locations in the northwest of the country (Lawra and Kaleo) and to install additional capacities of around 19.5 MWp. The electricity generated will be fed into the national grid and supply up to 32,000 people with electricity. A total of 8,700 tons of CO2 can be saved annually. The aim of the FC module is to make a contribution to reliable, more cost-effective and environmentally friendly electricity generation in Ghana. This will increase the proportion of generation capacities from renewable energies and thus contribute to the diversification of electricity generation in Ghana. Solar power plants represent an economically and ecologically sustainable alternative to electricity generation and to avoiding carbon dioxide emissions in Ghana. The project will also make an important contribution to the diversification of electricity generation in Ghana. In the long term, this will contribute to the country's economic development. The target group of the planned project includes current and future electricity consumers in Ghana who will directly benefit from an improved and environmentally friendly electricity supply.
