The FC module is intended to contribute to increasing the efficiency and climate compatibility of electricity supply and use in Bangladesh. The project thus helps consumers and the environment benefit from the economical, ecological and socially fair provision and use of energy in Bangladesh. The module builds on existing FC modules and is intended to take up findings from current studies and TZ modules. The project is to be carried out as part of the German Climate and Technology Initiative (DKTI) and complements the Renewable Energy Program II (DKTI 2017). The financial contribution is used to finance off-grid renewable energy projects such as solar irrigation pumps or domestic biogas plants. In addition, the financing of pilot measures such as agri-PV and battery storage is possible. These technologies are hardly or not at all widespread in the Bangladeshi context and offer high innovation potential. The recipient is the People's Republic of Bangladesh, represented by the Ministry of Finance. The program sponsor is the state-owned Infrastructure Development Company Ltd. (IDCOL), IDCOL is already known as a long-standing implementation partner of German development cooperation. The target group is all consumers in Bangladesh who are supplied by the public electricity grid. These include private households, public institutions and commercial and industrial electricity users. An accompanying measure to strengthen the operators is to be implemented alongside the investment.
