Description | The Indian government, through the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), is planning to gradually cancel unviable renewable energy project contracts where power sale and purchase agreements (PSAs and PPAs) are not feasible. This is to address delays in signing PSAs for nearly 43.94GW of awarded capacity, which is impacting India's renewable energy targets and net-zero goals. The cancellations will be phased and only after exploring all viable options. The government has amended bidding guidelines to allow cancellation of Letters of Award that remain unexecuted beyond 12 months from issuance. |
