Renewal of sewage treatment plants and pumping stations III -IKLU-

The project is a supplement to the projects Renewal of sewage treatment plants I + II (BMZ No. 2003 66 351) and Sousse II (BMZ No. 2005 65 705) to finance the increased investment costs. It includes the completion, repair and construction of sewage treatment plants (STP) and pumping stations (PS) in several Tunisian cities (in particular Sousse, Mahdia and Sayada). This is intended to contribute to the protection of regional surface and underground water resources - particularly in the coastal region around Sousse, Mahdia and Monastir. The aim of the project is the efficient, ecologically compatible and proper collection, cleaning and disposal of domestic and commercial-industrial wastewater. The project is being implemented by the Office National dAssainissement (ONAS), the nationally responsible Tunisian wastewater disposal company. The target group of the project is the population of the program locations and the residents in the downstream areas of the respective receiving waters.
